How to clean the water tank in an iron
Girls, I have a problem – I need to clean the water tank in my steam iron.
At first, I only used distilled water, but then I got lazy (I confess, I'm ashamed, I started using regular tap water and now I'm dealing with the consequences. The tank looks clean, but there's an unpleasant, stale smell coming from it. It seems like something has either bloomed or molded in there. I shone a flashlight inside, but couldn't see anything ((. I'm afraid to pour just anything in there, like vinegar... There are no stains on the fabric while ironing yet, and the water/steam comes out clear, but it smells. How can I clean this tank?
Check your iron manual before using vinegar, citric acid, or other cleaners: some manufacturers prohibit certain descaling methods.

Девочки, есть проблема – в утюге с функцией глажки с паром нужно почистить резервуар.
Я поначалу пользовалась только дистиллированной водой, потом стало лень (каюсь, стыдно, начала заливать обычную воду из-под крана и теперь имею последствия. Емкость вроде бы и чистая, но запашок из нее идет не очень свежий. Похоже, там все-таки что-то то ли зацвело, то ли заплесневело. Фонариком светила – ничего не увидела ((. Что попало туда лить, типа уксуса – страшно... На ткани при глажке пока пятен нет, вода/пар идет чистая, но с запахом.
Как почистить этот резервуар?
Well, I wouldn't say there's no harm: these little stones very noticeably damage the iron's soleplate, leaving many micro-scratches on it. Definitely use citric acid for cleaning, and in the future, drain the water after using the iron; don't leave it in the reservoir
