Progress is Catching Up: 5 Unusual Sewing Gadgets

I don't know if anyone has encountered such sewing devices or tools in real life (please let me know in the comments!), but each of the items listed below struck me to the core. I can't keep this information to myself anymore, so I'm rushing to share my amazement with you 😀

1. Water-soluble basting thread

Used for temporarily joining pieces: for pleating, basting pockets, setting in sleeves, fixing appliqués, blind hems, etc. The thread disappears without a trace when soaked in regular cold water or when the garment is steamed (!).

2. Mini-format sewing machine

It fits in the palm of your hand. That's the main thing you need to know )) A handheld gadget that doesn't require batteries or a power outlet. It easily stitches if your trousers suddenly rip at the seam, a stitch comes undone on your bedding or curtains, or you urgently need to hem a dress with lace in the field (you know, life happens) 😉

3. Scissors with a laser guide

They allow you to cut fabric in a perfectly straight line without any prior marking or drawing of auxiliary lines. Now cutting large-format pieces is much easier! For seamstresses/cutters working on bedding, this is simply a dream 👍

4. Self-healing cutting mat

An indispensable device for everyone involved in polymer clay, scrapbooking, foamiran, ribbons, and other craft techniques that require cutting small and medium-sized pieces. However, for those who like to cut "big," there are also giant A3-format mats. All cuts heal almost without a trace; plus, the mat is non-slip, has a matte surface, 2 working sides, and several types of detailed markings.

5. Presser feet for fabric decoration

We are already used to the walking foot, narrow hemmer foot, quilting foot, and gathering foot, and even a foot that can create Spanish hemstitch. But I, for example, didn't know there were feet for sewing on beads, sequins, as well as feet for couching and circular embroidery 😮 The latter two especially amazed me.

For quick decoration of children's clothes, the circular foot is simply an indispensable thing, I think, especially considering that it rotates on its own, with minimal effort from the seamstress 👌
