Textile Flowers: Making a Bouquet from Denim Scraps
Artificial flowers are perfect for creating a unique interior. This bouquet can also be made with children for a craft class or exhibition. You will need minimal materials: denim scraps, a few pieces of wire, and knitting yarn.
IMPORTANT! Flowers can be made from any fabric, such as burlap or linen. If you use old jeans as the material, you can glue the petals with the right or wrong side facing up, which will give the finished flowers different shades.
How to make fabric flowers
First, cut out a petal template of the desired shape and size from paper. In our case, these are heart-shaped pieces. Trace them onto the fabric—you need 5 or more petals for one flower.
For the center, cut a strip of fabric 3 cm wide and 12 cm long. Use a needle to create a fringe along one edge.
Apply "Moment Crystal" glue along the strip and roll it into a tube. Fluff out the fringe.
Glue the petals around the perimeter one by one; it is best to use a hot glue gun for this.
Stem
Cut a piece of wire (sold in craft stores) 20-25 cm long. Put a drop of glue on the tip and wrap it tightly with knitting yarn.
Bend one of the ends into a loop and fold it perpendicular to the stem. Apply hot glue to the loop.
Glue the finished flowers to the wire base and let them dry. If desired, you can decorate the center with beads.
If you want to make more realistic flowers, you can cut leaves out of crepe paper and glue them on as well.
@bussinka, there is a special sealant for treating edges. But if you need a quick and cheap fix, regular clear nail polish will do the trick 😉 Or PVA glue with a thin brush. The edge will get a bit stiff, but that's actually for the best: it will hold the shape of the petal 👍
