The lace on my dress tore. Throw it away or fix it?
I have a favorite sweatshirt fabric dress with lace overlay, and I snagged it on a railing at a party, leaving a hole. It's not in the most visible spot, but it's very noticeable. I'd hate to throw the dress away, but I couldn't find a way to fix it for a long time. I practiced on scraps, found a solution, and now I'm sharing it with you.
To start, you just need to gently sew the hole shut.
Next, choose a suitable element and cut it out. The hardest part was finding a match; if you have something similar in your stash, it won't be difficult. If not, you'll have to visit sewing shops and look through their remnants. Buying fabric by the meter for just a few centimeters isn't an option.
Cut carefully, very close to the pattern, and spray with glue (so it doesn't shift while sewing). If you can't find liquid glue, you can use hairspray or simple pins.
Now take matching thread, place the pattern, and sew the ornament very close to the natural contour, but be careful not to catch the base fabric (in my case, the sweatshirt fabric).

On my wedding day, my cat played with my wedding veil and made several small and medium holes with its claws (( It's a good thing my friend is a seamstress and quickly figured out how to handle the situation. We pulled the main hole together with a very thin thread (we pulled it out of the veil itself), and we took a handful of small fabric roses from a bridal salon and sewed them all over the fabric to hide the darning. It turned out very beautiful, but I still remember the stress to this day ))
