How to restore worn sleeves on a mink coat?
Crafters, any advice? I hate to throw the coat away, it's high quality. It's a sheared black mink coat in 4+ condition, but the sleeves are quite worn along the bottom hem. Shortening isn't an option—the length is perfect. How can I restore it myself? Or should I give in and go to a tailor? They quoted 1500 UAH (maybe more, final price later) for the repair, which seems too expensive to me...

1500 UAH for the sleeve hem is too much... Did I understand correctly that we are talking about repairing the sleeve cuff hem?
In general, it's a bit scary to sew fur coats on your own, but you can try. In any case, I would detach the fur from the lining of one sleeve, carefully trim the strip with the damaged fur, and sew on a new strip of black mink as a replacement. There are many fur scraps for sale on OLX for ridiculous prices, and you can even haggle. The main thing is to make sure that the direction of the fur on the coat and on the piece of fur matches completely, and the pile length too. You are lucky that the coat is a standard color. :)
If the coat is made of fur strips, it's not a problem at all to repair it so that not a trace remains! The most important thing is to carefully sew the lining and fur back together with blind stitches.
