Help repair a skirt

A tragedy happened. The waistband on my favorite skirt split right next to the snap. The skirt is made of genuine leather, very soft and well‑finished. It's midi length, with a flared, gored‑panel silhouette. I can't replace the waistband—the leather is metallic, a gold‑green shade; I won't be able to find the same, and black would look too out of place. Is there a way to repair the waistband? Does anyone have any ideas? The skirt is truly my favorite. I won't find another like it.
