To keep everything within reach, you can make this mini organizer. Glue the measuring tape onto a strip of fabric. Sew a pincushion on one side. On the other side — small scissors. Now all the essentials are always at hand while you work.

I used this back in vocational school. The downside is that if you make a wide strip intended for a 1 cm seam allowance, the measurements taken from the body will be inaccurate. So it's better to adhere it to the fabric exactly at 1 cm. Then everything will work.
