How to make a craft case from a bamboo placemat
A crafter always needs different cases, boxes, and small chests to store various tools.
Take a look at the simple and sturdy case you can make from everyday materials.
You can store knitting needles, hooks, or, for example, quilling paper in it.
## To make the case, you will need:
- bamboo placemat;
- two plastic jar lids;
- decorative ribbon;
- superglue;
- scissors.
## How to make
Roll the placemat** and insert it into the lid to determine the required length. Don't forget to allow the seam allowance. Make a mark.
Unroll the placemat, cut off the excess length.
Immediately glue the cut edge so it doesn't fray.
Glue the placemat into a tube, applying glue along the full length of the side being rolled.
Leave a margin from the edge, keeping the finished trim untouched. Behind it, glue the decorative ribbon on both sides of the case.
Carefully fold under the edges of the trim.
On one side, glue a jar lid.
On the other side of the case, the lid will be removable.
The case is nice overall, but a bit small. A true craft mistress has so much stuff that she’d need at least 5–6 of these tubes )))
For long-term storage of paper or fabric I wouldn't recommend using tubes at all: when rolled up, both get unsightly creases that you can't always get rid of without consequences
