How to Sew a Toddler Halter-Style Swimsuit
This archived sewing project makes a simple halter-style swimsuit with an open back for a toddler. It is a sewing pattern, not sun-protection or swim-safety guidance. An adult should make the garment and check the fit before use.

Materials
You need only a small amount of main fabric, a contrasting trim such as lace ribbon, and narrow elastic for the back waist and leg openings. Choose fabric and notions suitable for swimwear, and follow their care instructions.
Cutting the Pieces
The design uses swimsuit bottoms with one-piece halter straps. The front pattern piece is shown in blue and the back piece in black. Fold the main fabric in half, cut the front and back pieces, and add seam allowances.

Sewing and Fitting
Sew the crotch and side seams, then join the front straps along their top edge. Before finishing, check the strap length and overall fit on the child; the garment should not pull at the neck, shoulders, or leg openings.
Fold the leg openings to make elastic casings and insert the elastic. Do the same at the back waist, securing the elastic at the side seams. Add the gathered trim along the raw edges as shown in the photo.
Safety Note
This is an archive craft pattern, not a tested swimwear design. An adult should supervise fitting and use, inspect elastic and seams regularly, and stop using the garment if it becomes loose, damaged, or uncomfortable. Use age-appropriate sun protection and water supervision separately.

At least in swim bottoms... The style is very cute! If I understand correctly, there are no ties at the neck? Adding them could let the swimsuit fit for another year or two, because toddlers grow so quickly. In that respect, two-piece styles are much more practical. :)
