Sewing a Decorative Rhinestone Pillow

A sofa pillow made of silk or another shimmering fabric adds a touch of understated luxury to a room, and it costs next to nothing if you sew it yourself. The material required for sewing a decorative pillow with rhinestones is just over 1 meter; you can even use fabric scraps from other projects (lining fabric works well too).

## What You Will Need:

1. For the top of the pillowcase - one 45x45 cm piece. 2. For the bottom - two 45x25 cm pieces. 3. For the bow - one 50x60 cm piece. 4. Rhinestones. You can use ones that can be glued or sewn on.

## Sewing Instructions

Start by sewing the back half of the pillowcase. Press the edges of both pieces and hem them using a sewing machine.

Fold the 50x60 cm piece into quarters. Measure 10 cm from the edge and cut at an angle, making the edge slightly curved.

Finish the cut edge with a double hem on the machine and press lightly. One part of the bow is ready.

Mark the center of the side seam on the decorative piece and the top part of the pillowcase. Align the points, pin, and sew, slightly gathering the bow relative to the side of the pillow.

From the fabric scraps, cut a 6x8 cm rectangle, fold it lengthwise, sew, and turn it right side out. The bow center is ready; it needs to be decorated with rhinestones. If you are using iron-on ones, secure them with an iron; otherwise, sew them on individually by hand or choose a pre-made rhinestone trim.

Gather the bow in the center, sew the decorated strip on by hand, and hide the seam on the back side.

Connect the two bottom pillow pieces to the top piece, right sides together, and sew around the perimeter.

You now have a pocket through which you can put the pillowcase onto the decorative sofa pillow.

If you plan to make the pillow without a removable case, cut the bottom piece to the same size as the top, sew them together leaving an opening, stuff the pillow with filler through the opening, and close it with an invisible hand stitch.
