Old sweater plus shirt equals a new set!
Tired of a shapeless sweater with a stretched-out hem and neckline? Find an unused men's shirt or a meter of fabric and DIY a new set. A cardigan and scarf from an old sweater in a couple of hours: let's get inspired.

## Cutting
Mark the center front and the future hemline using chalk and a ruler. Cut off the collar and the bottom ribbing, and cut along the line of the future closure.

Cut the collar along the seam line, fold it in half, and cut out two pockets.

## How to sew a set from an old sweater
Cut bias tape from an old shirt or cotton fabric. You can also buy ready-made tape at a store, choosing a matching color.

Finish the front edges and the hem with the bias tape, then the neckline. Make loop closures from the same tape and machine-stitch them on. Sew on matching buttons.

Finish the pockets with bias tape on all sides and pin them to the garment after trying it on.

Stitch both pockets on a regular sewing machine.

Your cardigan is ready; if you like, sew a warm scarf to match. Line the cut-off bottom part of the sweater with fabric (from the shirt) and make a scarf with rounded ends.

To fasten it, you can sew a loop from the same shirt fabric or use an original brooch.
