Sewing a Simple Dress for New Year's

There is a tradition that you should welcome the New Year in new clothes that you have never worn before. But with the holidays come significant expenses (the festive table, gifts, the tree itself, etc.), so treating yourself to something new isn't always possible. To avoid refashioning old items or struggling to come up with a new outfit, I suggest a pattern for a very simple dress that is not only easy to sew but also looks absolutely magnificent!

Any fabric is suitable for sewing this dress. Plus, this model fits perfectly on both curvy ladies and slender young women.

Making the pattern. Measure your bust and hip circumference. Use whichever measurement is larger to draft the pattern. For example, if Hips = 96 cm and Bust = 94 cm, we will use the Hips measurement, i.e., 96 cm.

Add 4 cm to 96 cm to get 100 cm. Then, divide 100 by 4 to get 25 cm. This means the width of each back and front panel will be 25 cm.

## Drafting the back pattern.

Forming the sleeve.

Once the back is cut, we proceed to draft the front bodice. The front bodice will be similar to the back; the only changes we will make are the neckline depth and adding a bust balance.

Since this dress model does not include a bust dart, a bust balance is essential. The bust balance depends on the size of the bust itself (1-3 cm). Accordingly, the larger the bust, the greater the balance. To create the balance, raise the shoulder starting point by the number of centimeters corresponding to the bust size. After deepening the neckline, create a shaped cutout.

Create a point at the chest where the bridge will later be attached (it will need to be sewn on separately). Now we can assemble our dress.
