How to make fringe easily and quickly

Fringe is often used for finishing curtains, sewing toys, tablecloths, and creating unique, original items. However, it is not always possible to find fringe in the exact shade you envisioned to bring your project to life. At the same time, standard knitting yarn comes in a much wider color palette, and you can quickly and easily make fringe of the size you need from it.

We will wind the yarn onto a cardboard tube. If you don't have one, you can use cardboard toilet paper rolls and tape them together. At the beginning of the tube, secure the end of the yarn with regular adhesive tape and start winding the yarn around the tube. It is important that the loops lie side by side, but not too tightly. Secure the end of the yarn at the end of the tube as well.

Apply adhesive tape across the loops from one edge of the wound yarn to the other.

Remove the piece from the tube and fold the taped section in half. Stitch through the tape and yarn using a sewing machine, leaving a few millimeters from the edge. The fringe is now securely fastened and ready to use in your project!
