I have a dress made of soft-niagara – about 3-4 years ago it was incredibly fashionable ))
Among the pros, I will only say that the edges don't fray, the fabric is smooth, slightly slippery, similar to artificial silk, and practical to wear: the pattern doesn't fade/wash out, and there are minimal snags. Among the cons: you cannot iron at high temperatures, otherwise there will be creases that won't come out. Hand washing is recommended at 40 degrees. And the main drawback for me is that it is still synthetic; I feel stuffy in such a dress :cautious: Plus, the fabric gets static, which is a total disaster with my long hair.
Soft is not necessarily a noticeably pile fabric. It's just a dense, smooth, elastic material. It drapes perfectly! It doesn't wrinkle, doesn't fade, and handles washing well. It stretches both horizontally and vertically.
I don't really like such fabrics because they are artificial and can make the skin feel stuffy (hygroscopicity and breathability are lacking).
I can't give much advice on types, just what I've encountered:
It is better to wash at 40 degrees and iron on the reverse side at a medium temperature.

It's synthetic. If it's marketed as 'etamine', it's not the most budget-friendly option. Personally, I don't see the point in buying such things.
If it's mass-market Chinese goods, especially in the $1-5 segment, then even for wholesale, it's a huge lottery.
There is soft fabric that mimics viscose, wool... There are many imitations.
There is soft fabric as a base with natural fibers on top. I had a suit like that. Yes, it held its shape, probably its only plus, and after a week of wear, the natural fibers started pilling, and after a hand wash, it was only fit for the trash.
By itself, it was normal and the look of the fabric was excellent. Which is actually what made me buy it.
Therefore, I can note that if it's any soft fabric + natural fiber, it's not worth taking.
Pure soft fabric - no problems, everything is as written above. The problem for the skin, no matter how you look at it, is that it's synthetic.
