How to crochet an oversized dress. Help me figure out the stitch pattern!
I found this stunning dress online (Knitting and Needlework group @knittingandneedlework) 😍
It comes with a description and a pattern.
Everything seems simple, but I can't figure out the "front and back post stitches" pattern. The grid here is worked either with triple, double, or single crochet, or perhaps there are decreases to make the pattern finer. Can any experienced crafters give me a hint? I'm dying to make it, and I've even considered knitting this design instead to avoid the hassle, although the effect won't be the same((
A very interesting dress! In my opinion, there is no change in the height of the stitches here, only in their quantity in each cell in terms of height and width. If I'm not mistaken, the model is knitted from the top down, with a seamless yoke, so you will need to add stitches following a pattern similar to this. This is what gives the dress its trapezoidal shape.
The pattern is not difficult to knit.
Back post stitch
Make 3 chain stitches at the beginning of the row. Then yarn over, skip 1 base stitch, and insert the hook as shown in the photo from right to left under the stitch of the previous row.
Knit a regular double crochet stitch.
Suppose your cell consists of 10 such back post and 10 front post parts. Then, after 10 back post stitches, switch to a front post stitch.
For this, you need to bend the knitting towards you, yarn over, and insert the hook from right to left as well, behind the fabric.
In the part of the dress where you are knitting in the round, you just keep knitting all the stitches as they are. If you need to turn the work, then on the wrong side, knit front post stitches as back post stitches and vice versa (like knit and purl stitches in regular ribbing). That's all the nuances.
