Nooking (3-in-1 technique). Has anyone tried it?
I recently came across the Nooking technique and was a bit shocked, as I thought there couldn't be anything new in crochet. But this knitting technique combines a knitting needle, a regular crochet hook, and a Tunisian crochet hook. The tool looks like an elongated needle with an eye and a hooked end.
It is used to create both knit and purl stitches simultaneously. Essentially, it results in crochet work, but it looks as if it were made with knitting needles.
I noticed that a cord is inserted instead of a knitting needle, and the knitting happens on it. Does this result in unusual patterns? Has anyone worked with this technique? Is it easier than standard knitting? What about the speed—is it faster, or is it not worth the trouble?
I tried this technique back in college, and I can say that it's a lot of hassle! In fact, there is no difference between a finished item made with the Knooking technique and one made with knitting needles. It's all the same patterns and charts, but this technique takes 2 or even 3 times longer.
Of course, you need to try everything to improve your skill level, and every technique is a matter of "taste and color"—maybe you will find it easier, faster, and like it more. But for me, it's a useless technique.
