Mini Father Frost Brooch: Quick DIY Tutorial

Crocheting the Father Frost Brooch

The accessory consists of several pieces worked step by step from fine thread in three colours: pink or peach, white, and red. You will need a fine 0.5 mm crochet hook and a large-eye needle.

Head

Make an adjustable loop. With pink thread, work: Row 1: 10 stitches with yarn over; turn the fan. Row 2: 15 stitches without yarn over. Row 3: work stitches without yarn over around.

With white thread, working from the centre, crochet the beard: Row 1: a fan of 10 stitches with yarn over. Row 2: five arches of five stitches with yarn over, worked from one stitch of the previous row. Row 3: without turning the work, edge the head along the contour with stitches without yarn over.

Hat

Skip the first two loops and begin crocheting the hat with red thread in stitches without yarn over.

Row 1: 8 stitches without yarn over. Row 2: 6 stitches without yarn over. Row 3: 5 stitches without yarn over. Row 4: 4 stitches without yarn over. Row 5: 2 stitches without yarn over.

Work the shift of the hat from one side.

Hat Trim

Chain 10 and work stitches with yarn over across them.

The figure is ready for finishing and assembly. Embroider small black dots for Father Frost’s eyes.

Wind several wraps of white thread around a suitable object, secure it at the centre with red thread, and sew on the moustache.

Attach the brim to the hat using hot glue or a needle and thread.

Sew on a small pom-pom or bead and fix the hat bent down to one side.
