How to Make a Retro Photo Frame — Lace Decoupage
Store-bought photo frames don't offer much variety, and having one custom-made is fairly expensive. To preserve your photos and decorate your space with them, you can make a frame yourself. Even a schoolgirl can pull this off, and you'll only need a minimum of materials: a piece of sturdy cardboard, PVA glue, white acrylic paint, and a length of lace. You'll definitely love the result!
How to decorate a photo frame with lace
Step 1
From sturdy cardboard (a shoebox works well), cut out a rectangle with an inner "window" of the size you want.
Using a soft brush and acrylic paint (you can also use gouache), cover the future frame with 2 coats of white paint.
Step 2
Cut out a backing for the frame from heavy paper. Glue it to the back with PVA glue. At the top of the frame, use a craft knife to cut a slot for inserting the photo.
Step 3
Cut a 3 cm wide strip from cardboard, fold it as shown in the photo, and glue it to the back of the future frame.
Step 4
Cut strips of lace to fit the frame and attach them mostly with PVA glue. You can also use artificial flowers and beads of different colors and sizes as extra decoration. If you like, decorate the frame with crocheted lace too.
