Office Christmas Tree: Festive Decor from Yarn Scraps
To create a festive mood not just at home but also at work, you can decorate your desk with a small Christmas tree. This crocheted decor takes up very little space, and you only need 50g of yarn to make it. You can even use leftover yarn from unraveled items: dark or light green, white, metallic, or eyelash yarn. ## How to crochet a Christmas tree
## The Top
Rows 1-3: Work 4 single crochet stitches into a magic ring. Row 4: Work 2 double crochet stitches into each stitch from the previous row, also adding 2 increases. Total: 10 double crochet stitches.
## First Tier Branches
Work each branch (5 in the first round) over 2 double crochet stitches from the previous row.
Chain 3 for height, work 2 double crochet stitches, and pull through all 3 stitches together.
Next, work a picot: chain 5 and join into a ring, then work 3 picots from the top of the branch.
This way, you get 5 branches in the first round.
## Second Tier
Turn your work and crochet along the base of the first tier: 1 single crochet, 1 chain stitch. In the second round, work 10 double crochet stitches; this is the transition between the branches of the two tiers (the trunk). You can make it with a contrasting color, for example, brown.
Work the branches using the same principle as in the first tier. Gradually increase the width by increasing the number of base stitches: 12 in the 3rd tier, 15 in the 4th tier, and so on, until you reach the desired width and height.
## Base
Edge the bottom of the finished tree with dense brown yarn using single crochet stitches.
For stability, make a paper cone and insert it inside your decoration. Close the bottom with a crocheted circle base, worked in single crochet to match the diameter of the trunk.
You can further decorate this tree with miniature ornaments, tinsel, or even wrap it with a small string of fairy lights.
Cute! I came across a slightly different method, crocheting from the bottom up as well. Starting with a base of 24 stitches, we crochet double crochets (2 in each stitch). In the 2nd row - treble crochets, 1 in the stitch of the previous row, then from the second stitch, in the 3rd row - again double crochets, doubling the amount. We get a "wave" that can be shaped as desired. Then we crochet the trunk again, but with fewer stitches, and repeat everything until the desired height is reached.
This is a beginner-friendly option, although your little Christmas tree looks more lifelike with individual branches)))
