A Second Life for Old Dishes: Creative Decor for Mugs and Cups

## Making a toothbrush holder

You will need: a piece of burlap or homespun fabric, hot glue, leftover beads or small pebbles, artificial or real seashells of various shapes and sizes, and a hot glue gun.

Apply hot glue to the area of the cup where the handle broke off, as well as a little on the bottom and inside the cup. Secure the burlap firmly.

Sprinkle beads onto a thin layer of glue and press lightly to set. Wait for it to dry.

Glue the seashells onto the fabric in a random pattern or a specific composition.

The cup transforms... into a holder that reminds you of the sea.

## Making a pen and pencil holder

You will need: an old glass or a handleless cup, jute cord or hemp rope, a sprig of artificial flowers, and hot glue.

Apply glue to the bottom of the cup and gradually wrap it with rope for about 1/4 of the way up.

Next, use a drop of hot glue to attach individual sprigs or leaves, and place flowers or berries between them. Secure them with one or two turns of the rope.

You can glue small, bright flowers along the contour. The stationery holder is ready.

## Making a beautiful candle in a holder

For this project, you will need: 1 paraffin household candle, 1 wax crayon of any color, hot glue, and old costume jewelry. It is best to choose a small cup, like a coffee cup. If you don't like its current look, the easiest way is to cover the dish with acrylic paint.

Let's get started. Melt the candle and the wax crayon in a double boiler.

Place a wick of the required length into the cup, pour in the colored wax, and let it set. Use a clothespin to keep the wick in place.

After the wax has set, decorate the chipped area using hot glue and old costume jewelry. You can choose any other decor that suits your taste.
