How to restore bentwood chairs?
Good evening, everyone!
I don't know anything about furniture restoration, but I'd love to give it a try. Here's the situation: old bentwood chairs (inherited from my grandmother, they're at least 80 years old!). All four chairs are in roughly this condition:
They were used during renovations by my mother, so there are a lot of paint drips... I can't bear to throw them away, especially since there's a beautiful matching table. I want to fix them up for the summer house. Technically, they are sturdy; the legs are solid and don't wobble. The only issue is the aesthetics. 😉

Я в реставрации мебели совсем не смыслю, но попробовать хочется. Дано: старые венские стулья (остались от бабушки, им минимум 80 лет!). Все четыре стула примерно в таком состоянии:
Использовались во время ремонта ещё мамой, поэтому много подтёков краски... Выбросить - сердце кровью обливается, тем более, что в комплект к ним есть красивый стол. Хочу отремонтировать и на дачу. Чисто технически - прочные, ножки крепкие, не шатаются. Вопрос только в эстетике. 😉

You can also put in a little extra effort and distress the chairs. That is, sand them, fill any gaps, and rub them with sandpaper to create a distressed effect. It turns out very interesting, in a Provence style. Especially for a summer house - cozy! In these photos, they just used almost dry paint (silver) to create the worn look, it turned out cute:
Add a colorful cushion on top and the old chair has a second life. 🙂
But this is only if you like such "restorations". 😉
