Decorating a Nightstand. How to restore the look of old furniture? The easiest way to makeover

It's a shame to throw away an item if it functions perfectly but has lost its appearance. Those who have old furniture at home in perfect working order will especially understand me. I really don't like waiting a long time or doing a million different steps, waiting for days for the first/second/third coat to dry – that's not for me. Therefore, I propose a quick and effective way to makeover an old nightstand.

## Makeover

First, you need to remove the old layer of paint. It is best to do this with a putty knife or a knife. However, it is unlikely that the entire coating will be easy to remove, so sand off the top layer as much as possible with coarse sandpaper (if you have a sander or other tool, you can use it).

Then, "clean" it with fine sandpaper and cover the nightstand with primer.

Construction primer will help reduce consumption and increase the adhesion of the paint to the surface.

It dries quickly; in just an hour or two, you can start painting. I always use water-based paint and the desired pigment. It doesn't smell, has a lasting color, doesn't rub off on your hands, and holds up very well (plus, it dries very quickly). Cover the surface and leave it for another 1-2 hours.

Now you can decorate. I used masking tape to create stripes.

But there are a million different ways, and you can choose the one you like best:

• Paint it white again and use lace to create imprints.
• Decorate using the "Decoupage" technique.
• Decorate with patterns that match the style of the room.
• Use brown tones to create a "Retro" effect (not the way it was originally, but beautifully).
• Decorate with stripes/frames of other colors.
