Crochet Owl: A Step-by-Step Amigurumi Toy Tutorial with Photos

You will need:

• one skein each of white and light brown "Iris" thread;
• a crochet hook;
• a needle;
• filling;
• black paint or small beads for the eyes;
• a scrap of orange thread for the beak.

Tutorial

Head and body

2 ch, 6 sc into the 2nd chain from the hook.

In the next round, work increases: work 2 sc into each stitch.

Next round: increases again — first work 1 sc, then 2 sc into the next stitch. Repeat to the end of the round.

Next round: work increases every 2 stitches, i.e., into every third stitch = 24 stitches.

Work 6 rounds even (no increases).

Next round: 3 sc, 2 sc into the next stitch. Repeat to the end of the round = 30 stitches.

Next round: 4 sc, 2 sc into the next stitch. Repeat to the end of the round.

Next, 7 rounds even, with no increases.

Next round: 4 sc, sc2tog.

Next round: 3 sc, sc2tog.

Next round: 2 sc, sc2tog.

Next round: 1 sc, sc2tog.

Stuff the piece with hollow fiber filling or any other filling of your choice.

Next round: work a full round of decreases — sc2tog all the way around.

Belly

6 sc into a ring.

Work 2 sc into each stitch.

Next round: 1 sc, 2 sc into the next stitch.

Next round: 2 sc, 2 sc into the next stitch.

Next round: 3 sc, 2 sc into the next stitch.

Embroider a chevron pattern with brown thread and sew the belly onto the body.

Wings

7 ch.

1 sc, 1 dc, 2 tr, 1 dc, 1 sc.

Eyebrows

10 ch.

3 sc, sc3tog, 3 sc.

Eyes

Magic loop, 9 dc, slip stitch, pull the loop closed.

Sew the wings, eyes, and eyebrows onto the body.
