Crochet Kitten Toy Named Gav: Archived Pattern

You will need for crocheting the toy:

plush yarn Himalaya Dolphin Baby, YarnArt Dolce – in two colors, main and accent;
plastic joints 15 mm, 4 pcs.;
plastic nose 10 mm;
plastic eyes 14 mm;
a size 3.5 or 4 hook;
thread for sewing the pieces together, matching the main yarn color.

**Pattern

Head**

Start crocheting with the dark yarn:

Rnd 1: 6 sc into MR (=6);

Rnd 2: 6 inc (=12);

Rnd 3: 1 sc, 3 inc, 3 sc, 3 inc, 2 sc (= 18) place a marker at the bottom of the head;

Rnd 4: 2 sc, 1 inc, 1 sc, 1 inc, 3 sc, 3 sc into 1 st, 3 sc, 1 inc, 1 sc, 1 inc, 3 sc (= 24);

Rnd 5: 11 sc, 2 inc, 11 sc (= 26);

Rnd 6: 7 sc, (2 sc, inc) x5, 10 sc (= 32);

Rnd 7: 7 sc, (2 sc, inc) x5, 10 sc (= 37);

insert the eyes between rounds 5 and 6, with 5-6 stitches between the eyes, secure the nose between rounds 2 and 3.

Switch yarn color, continue:

Rnd 8: 5 sc, 1 inc, 6 sc, 1 inc, 5 sc, 1 inc, 5 sc, 1 inc, 6 sc, 1 inc, 5 sc (= 42);

Rnds 9-15: 42 sc;

Rnd 16: (5 sc, dec) x6 (= 36);

Rnd 17: (4 sc, dec) x6 (=30);

Rnd 18: (3 sc, dec) x6 (=24);

add the filling evenly;

Rnd 16: (2 sc, dec) x6 (= 18);

Rnd 17: (1 sc, dec) x6 (= 12);

fill the remaining volume of the head with filling;

Rnd 18: 6 dec (= 6).

Pull the opening closed, secure and trim the yarn.

Face shaping

Insert the needle with thread at the center bottom where the colors meet, and bring it out under the edge of the left eye, ending near the far edge of the eye.

Insert the needle again and bring it out at the starting point, then pull tight. Make two such passes, then bring the needle out under the right eye and repeat the process.

Ears

With the dark yarn:

Rnd 1: 6 sc into MR (= 6);

Rnd 2: 6 inc (= 12);

Rnd 3: 12 sc;

switch yarn;

Rnd 4: (3 sc, inc) x3 (= 15);

Rnds 5-6: 15 sc.

Fold the ears in half, sew them on between rounds 12 and 14, with 5-6 stitches between the ears.

Arms

Stuff as you go.

Dark yarn:

Rnd 1: 7 sc into MR (= 7);

Rnd 2: 7 inc (= 14);

Rnds 3-5: 14 sc;

Rnd 6: (1 sc, dec, 2 sc, dec) x2 (= 10);

Rnds 7-9: 10 sc;

switch color;

Rnds 10-16: 10 sc;

insert the joint between rounds 15 and 16;

Rnd 17: 5 dec (= 5).

Pull the opening closed, secure the yarn, weave in the tail.

Legs

Dark yarn:

Rnd 1: 6 sc into MR (= 6);

Rnd 2: 6 inc (= 12);

Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) x6 (= 18);

Rnd 4: (9 sc, inc) x2 (= 20); marker at the back;

Rnds 5-6: 20 sc;

Rnd 7: 6 sc, 4 dec, 6 sc (= 16);

Rnd 8: 4 sc, 4 dec, 4 sc (= 12);

Rnds 9-10: 12 sc;

switch color;

Rnd 11: 12 sc;

Rnds 12-17: 12 sc;

insert the joint between rounds 16 and 17;

Rnd 18: 6 dec (= 6).

Pull the opening closed, secure the yarn, weave in the tail.

Tail

Stuff it lightly, or don't stuff it at all.

Dark yarn:

Rnd 1: 6 sc into MR (= 6);

Rnd 2: (1 sc, inc) x3 (= 9);

Rnds 3-5: 9 sc;

Rnd 6: 1 dec, 7 sc (= 8);

switch color;

Rnds 7-10: 8 sc;

Rnd 11: 1 dec, 6 sc (= 7);

Rnds 12-16: 7 sc.

Pull the opening closed, secure the yarn, weave in the tail.

Body

Orange yarn:

Rnd 1: 6 sc into MR (=6);

Rnd 2: 6 inc (=12);

Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) x6 (= 18);

Rnd 4: (2 sc, inc) x6 (= 24);

Rnd 5: (3 sc, inc) x6 (= 30);

Rnd 6: (4 sc, inc) x6 (= 36);

Rnds 7-11: 36 sc.

insert the legs between rounds 6 and 7, secure the joint;

Rnd 12: (4 sc, dec) x6 (= 30);

Rnds 13-14: 30 sc;

Rnd 15: (3 sc, dec) x6 (= 24);

Rnds 16-19: 24 sc;

insert the arms between rounds 18 and 19, secure the joint;

Rnd 20: (2 sc, dec) x6 (= 18);

Rnd 21: (3 sc, dec) x6 (= 12).

Pull the opening closed, secure the yarn, weave in the tail.

Assembly

Shape the muzzle, embroider the whiskers. Attach the tail between rounds 7 and 8, sew on the head.

Shape little toes on the paws.

вставляем глазки между 5 и 6 рядами, между глазками 5-6 петель, носик закрепляем между 2 и 3 р.

Меняем цвет пряжи, продолжаем:

равномерно укладываем наполнитель;

Стягиваем отверстие, закрепляем и обрезаем нить.

Утяжка

Вкалываем иглу с ниткой в центр внизу на стыке цветов, выкалываем под край левого глаза, отступив ко второму краю глаза.

Опять вкалываем иглу и выкалываем ее в исходной точке, утягиваем. Делаем два таких прохода, потом выкалываем иглу под правым глазом и повторяем процесс.

Уши

Темными нитками:

1 р.: 6 ст. б.н. в КА (= 6);

2 р.: 6 приб. (= 12);

3 р.: 12 ст. б. н.;

меняем нить;

4 р.: (3 ст. б. н., приб.)х3 (= 15);

5-6 р.: 15 ст. б. н.

Складываем уши вдвое, пришиваем их между 12 и 14 р., расстояние между ушами 5-6 п.

Well, that makes it even cooler — if you crochet it with brown thread using the same pattern, you get a bear))) Though you'd need to reknit the tail. I usually start with a magic ring, work 6 single crochets into it, then spiral around with 2 stitches into each stitch below, and then taper it down. You get a neat, round little tail))
Maybe the ears should be made a touch pointier?
I really didn't recognize Kitten Gav))) Personally, I don't think the yarn color was the best choice)
