What to sew from a men's shirt: sharing ideas and feedback
Hi!
With a change in workplace, my better half suddenly changed his style of dress - jackets and shirts, which I honestly hated ironing in the mornings, were replaced by t-shirts and jeans. Should I be happy or sad? I haven't figured it out yet. 🙂
I found several ways to repurpose a men's shirt. Perhaps you have some advice too?
So, option one - a stylish blouse.

In essence, you don't even have to recut the shirt. You use a regular cotton (or, as in this case, synthetic) tank top with wide straps, or rather, its upper part. You need to cut the tank top just below the bust line and serge the edge. Turn the short-sleeved men's shirt inside out as shown in the photo and iron it. Baste the tank top to the shirt and sew, hiding the stitching in the fabric folds.
## Option two - an off-the-shoulder blouse.

You wouldn't wear this to work, of course, but for the weekend - why not? The lines along which you need to cut the shirt are shown in the photo above.
The raw edges need to be serged, folded inward by 5 mm, and stitched. Ruffles are formed by sewing in elastic thread (I think it will be easier to sew it with a straight stitch foot).
## Option three - a summer mini-dress.

Everything is even simpler here - cut off the top, finish the edge, form a casing, and thread a wide elastic band (2-3 cm) through it. All that's left is to roll up the sleeves for a rugged look and the outfit is ready. 😉

As a variation on the theme of upcycling, I suggest sewing a tote bag from a shirt and a bright tie. Look at what a cool idea:
I think you can sew it using the tutorial How to sew an eco-bag with your own hands. Only, for practicality, you probably need to either use a dense fabric like light denim or reinforce the fabric in some way so that the bag can withstand the weight. This is, of course, if you use it for shopping. 🙂
