Jeans turn into... stylish shorts or a trendy update in an hour
While the weather outside is incredibly dull and gray, I'm distracting myself with some positivity. Today I'll tell you how to quickly sew stylish shorts for summer from old jeans in just 1-2 hours. 😉
## Prepare the following for the project:
- jeans;
- scissors;
- thread;
- needle;
- pins;
- tailor's chalk;
- cotton lace;
- seam ripper (can be replaced with small manicure scissors or a sharp blade).
The process is as simple as it gets: first, turn the right pant leg inside out and insert it into the left pant leg, wrong sides facing each other. Smooth out any wrinkles. Pin the layers of fabric together using tailor's pins.

## Mark the desired length of your future shorts with chalk and cut off the excess fabric.

Next, rip the side seams about two centimeters from where the pockets are attached.
## Cut a wedge out of cotton lace, pin it under the raw edges of the shorts, and stitch it on.

The hem looks best when frayed, so create a fringe and fluff it up as you like. 😉

For me, this way of cutting pant legs is a novelty. I always folded the garment in half at the waistband, though this method can cause some inconveniences: the reference points for pockets, the waistband, and other elements don't always match on both pieces due to poor factory sewing. As a result, you have to measure several times (as they say, measure seven times, cut once). Is the method shown in the tutorial suitable for hemming, or is it only used for shortening pant legs into shorts?Show full quoteCollapse
