What to make from old T-shirts? Rugs and quilts from unwanted clothes
I don't know about you, but my wardrobe is full of a million T-shirts, most of which I don't wear. Some are too small, some I just don't like anymore. It's a shame to throw them away, as many have cool designs, and I don't need that many rags. While scrolling through my feed, I saw an unusual printed patchwork quilt. And I realized: "That's where I'll put these T-shirts." All you need is a little imagination and a lot of T-shirts, plus some batting (if it's a quilt) or just fabric for the backing. In my case, I used a ready-made duvet cover.
## Step-by-step instructions Unfortunately, I didn't take photos of the process, as I didn't think I'd share it anywhere (until I found this forum), but I will describe in detail how to do it yourself:
- Cut out the parts you want from the T-shirts. These could be slogans or pictures (basically, anything you like).
- Finish the edges (fold them in, iron, and stitch). If you wish, you can add a border in a single color for all pieces.
- Now join all the pieces into one sheet (you choose the size and shape based on the amount of material and your imagination).
- Take another piece of fabric (or a duvet cover, as I did) and sew it on top.
> Important! If you want to make a quilt this way, you will need two layers of the backing fabric with batting in between (for example, quilted polyester batting).
In the end, you get these cool bedspreads/quilts/duvet covers.
Patchwork quilts are convenient to assemble from individual blocks made of pieces, for example, 4 or 9 squares each. And the finished product must be quilted. You can do it by hand if you want to preserve the volume, or by machine.
