My favorite sewing tools that make work easier
I want to share my set of tools that make my work much easier. Let's start in order:
1. Tailor's clapper (of course, I replaced it with a wooden toy train track, or rather, a part of it). A very necessary item for pressing seam allowances.
2 - 3. Tailor's ham and pressing roll. The difference is in the stuffing and size. The roll is less stuffed and almost twice the size. You can buy them ready-made, or you can make them yourself (if anyone is interested, write in the comments, and I will tell you how to make them quickly and correctly).
4-5. Magnetic pincushion. Since I always have needles everywhere, I probably have about 4 magnetic ones. One that attaches to the sewing machine, two that I glued directly to the table with hot glue right under my elbows (I drop them on the floor so often, and since I have children and animals at home, the magnet catches them if they fall, so the needle doesn't hit the floor). And one just on the table.
6. Weights. I bought them from Sew Easy. A great thing. They help to fix the pattern on the fabric, and also hold several layers together.
7. Glue stick. Actually, you can do without it, but I find it convenient; I apply it to the joining areas, the fabric doesn't slip, it's easier to sew, and the connection is more secure. Perhaps it is used differently, but I bought it by accident, thinking it was a water-soluble marker, and I didn't look up how to use it properly, it works for me as is.
8. Prym Trick Marker. An ideal disappearing marker that leaves no stains at all (regardless of the fabric).
9. Turning tool. An indispensable thing when you need to turn a piece with corners inside out.
10. Mini scissors. I mainly use them if I need to remove stitches or just cut a thread. Although they are very sharp and fit comfortably in the hand. So they are suitable for various purposes.
11. "Belarusian" tailor's scissors. The downside is that they are a bit heavy. But of all the ones I have ever used, these are the best.
12. Disappearing chalk. It draws thin lines and doesn't crumble.
13. "Centering" presser foot. I think there's no need to explain its usefulness here.
14. Edge stitching foot. I mainly use it where there are large differences in thickness because it has a special groove on the sole.
15. Plate for complex details.
16-18. Several rulers. A simple sewing ruler, a seam allowance ruler, and a marking ruler, which I use as a pattern curve.
## And what are your favorite tools?
Oh, look at all these presser feet. There are some I haven't even heard of. And it annoys me so much that there are so many of them, but I only use three at most. It's just infuriating to change them every time I sew. I can't even imagine how seamstresses who absolutely have to constantly swap out the presser foot manage. It takes up so much time.
