How My Love for Leather Goods Began

I want to share with you the story of my first love =)

My love for the world of leather goods.

Today I'll tell how I made my first handmade piece.

It happened 3 years ago. I had to stay the night at a friend's place because I was in another city on business. The apartment was Soviet-era, with lots of old, huge furniture, and among those Stalinist jungle decorations one item caught my eye. A plate from the same era as the apartment's decor. It held coins, banknotes — money, basically. I realized there was nowhere to keep them.

After a few days back home I found a good piece of leather (I won't go into where it came from in the closet, but if you rummage in such places you can find many interesting things). Obviously I didn't have any professional tools or experience. I wanted to give something necessary to a good person. Diving into the internet I began studying the subject. The field turned out to be a bit harder than it seems at first glance. But still, despite having nothing, I managed to make a wallet like this. My friend received the gift and still carries it to this day. He's happy. I'm happy too, because making such things is pleasant, and giving them away is even more so. Over time the wallets kept getting better, then bags and backpacks followed. As they say, a completely different story.
