DIY Year of the Ox Toy Pillows: Ideas and Patterns
Time flies, and New Year will be here before we know it :) It is time to start preparing. Not everyone enjoys sewing a toy shaped like each year’s zodiac symbol: it may be fun, but it is not always easy to find a practical use for it.
A decorative pillow shaped like the year’s symbol is more practical. An ox pillow can work as seasonal decor or as an accent in a child’s room. Treat it as a decorative cushion, not as an infant sleep product.
I suggest we share useful ideas and patterns that we find.
You can use fabric and thread scraps for these pillows. Choose stuffing intended for toys or cushions and follow its care instructions. Embroidery or ribbon details can add decoration. For anything intended for a young child, avoid buttons, beads, long ribbons or cords, and other small or detachable pieces. The diagrams below are reference patterns without a reliable print scale or stated seam allowances, so check the finished size and add suitable seam allowances before cutting.
Here are two examples with their pattern-piece diagrams.
