How to turn a T-shirt into a trendy piece

After lockdown, there's a special desire to walk down the street in a fashionable and beautiful outfit. If you find yourself in a "nothing to wear" situation, an original idea for upcycling your existing wardrobe will save the day. You can use designer tips to turn an ordinary T-shirt into a trendy summer blouse. A black outfit will look especially striking, but I think you can "work your magic" with knitwear in other colors as well.

To create a stylish summer blouse, you will need:

1. A solid-colored classic or slightly fitted T-shirt.
2. Tulle, mesh, organza, or another non-fraying translucent fabric, patterned fabric is also an option.
3. Elastic trim or ribbon for finishing the cuffs.

Designer upcycling process

Cut the sleeves off the T-shirt 1 cm from the seam.

Place the sleeve onto the mesh and trace it with chalk.

First, you need to take measurements and determine the length of the new sleeve. Mark it out and cut 2 pieces from the mesh.

Sew the sleeve by hand with a needle and thread very close to the edge. This seam is almost invisible, so you can get by without a sewing machine.

Insert the sleeve into the armhole and sew it in, starting from the underarm. Work a backstitch on the right side to secure the seam allowance on the knit fabric and make it invisible.

Measuring 7 cm from the edge of the sleeve, sew on a piece of ribbon folded in half. Tie it around your wrist while gathering the cuffs to create beautiful ruffles at the edge.
