How to sew a patchwork stole

Dressmakers and craft enthusiasts always have plenty of fabric scraps left over. Relatively large pieces around 1m can always be combined when sewing clothes, but if you have very small scraps left, don't throw them away. You can sew a beautiful stole from fabric strips just 5 cm wide. The main thing is to choose material that matches in shade and texture.

## How to sew a patchwork stole

First, you need to prepare the material. You will need fabric scraps with prints, floral patterns, or geometric ornaments. In this example, these are mint and turquoise scraps with splashes of pink, white, and green. Using the leftover material, cut it into strips 20 cm long and 5.5 cm wide.

Next, cut out 4 squares measuring 20 by 20 cm from solid-colored fabric and 4 identical squares from the printed fabric.

## Assembling the stole

Sew the fabric strips together in groups of 4 and press the seams open in opposite directions. Connect them into 2 blocks. Prepare 8 such blocks from the multi-colored strips, and alternately sew them together with the 2 solid fabric squares.

Create one continuous piece by joining 2 strip blocks and 2 solid squares. Fold the resulting long scarf in half and sew the side edges.

The final step is to turn the stole right side out and hand-stitch the open edge closed. Steam the finished piece to even out all the seams. Your stole with an original pattern is ready!
