Companion Fabrics: How to Choose? How to Combine Fabrics
Combining fabrics in a single garment creates a unique effect, but before picking two different materials, you need to know a few rules:
## Color Palette When buying fabric, you need to know which colors are primary. For example, purple is a combination of red and blue, so they will be perfect companions. You can also choose several similar shades. I have attached examples in the table.
## Different Fabrics If you want to use two different materials, it is important that they are similar in density and weight, otherwise the garment will look odd.
## Patterns Matching patterns usually happens in clothing sets. Therefore, we combine prints based on the principle: similar motif – different size in the top and bottom parts.

Цветовая гамма
Покупая ткань, нужно знать, какие цвета являются образующими. К примеру, фиолетовый – это соединение красного и синего, соответственно, они будут идеальными компаньонами. Также можно подбирать несколько схожих оттенков. Примеры прилагаю в таблице.
Разная ткань
Если вы хотите использовать два разных материала, важно, чтобы они по плотности и весу были одинаковыми, иначе изделие будет смотреться странно.
Рисунок
Сочетаемость рисунков, обычно, происходит в комплектах одежды. Поэтому, комбинируем принты по принципу: схожий мотив – разный размер в верхней и нижней частях.
I would like to add that, besides density and weight, the degree of fabric stretch is also of great importance - it should be the same to avoid individual parts stretching out. To make it clearer: knitwear and suiting fabrics, for example, are incompatible. And even though fashion designers think otherwise, we don't live on a runway. ;)
And it's also important to consider the grain line - it should almost always run vertically, regardless of which fabrics are combined in the garment. :)
