How to restore whiteness to synthetic-filled pillows
Sleeping pillows not only lose their elasticity and shape over time, but also require mandatory cleaning to get rid of dirt and dust. If you use large 70x70 or 90x90 cm pillows, it is best to take them to a dry cleaner, while 50x70 bedding or decorative cushions can be machine washed. It is important to avoid certain mistakes so that after drying, the pillow remains white, soft, and free of matted filler.

## How to whiten and wash a sleeping pillow
First of all, you need to choose a detergent. Regular powder is not suitable; it is difficult to rinse out and remains in the filler fibers even after two rinse cycles. Therefore, it is worth paying attention to gel detergents. "PERSIL" has proven itself excellent. One capful of liquid is enough for one pillow.
If stains have appeared on the cover, it is best to use "Vanish Oxi Action" for white items to remove them. It not only removes many stains but also brightens the fabric by 3 shades.
## Washing mode and temperature
Carefully look at the label on the pillow; it usually indicates the composition of the filler and washing instructions. If the label is gone and the pillow is filled with synthetic down, polyester batting, or hollowfiber, it is best to choose a minimum washing temperature of 30 degrees. Never wash the item at 60 degrees or higher, otherwise you risk ruining it completely!
Choose a hand wash or delicate cycle without spinning. The pillow will wash perfectly; you just need to use one trick!
## LIFE HACK FOR WASHING PILLOWS
Take 2-3 balls of yarn the size of an apple, wrap them in old nylon tights, and tie them. Throw the resulting dense balls into the machine along with the pillow.
After washing, use a drying rack with horizontal bars. Lay the pillow out on it and dry, periodically shaking and smoothing out the filler. You can also dry the items on a balcony in hot, sunny weather; this will help completely get rid of the detergent smell and restore the pillows' whiteness and freshness.

People usually advise putting tennis balls in the washing machine – at that moment, I start racking my brain trying to remember the last time our family played tennis 😄 But the idea with balls of yarn is much more suited to our mentality (y)
