Such a fun hat, absolutely ideal for beginners! If I understand correctly, you just knitted it straight, without increases or decreases, on four needles or circulars, in ordinary 1 × 1 rib. Then you sewed the ears to give them a flat shape?
I would have used a single colour of yarn, but that’s just my own little quirk. ;)
