How to clean gold – sharing experience and tips
Gold jewelry, regardless of what people say or how they feel about it, is a symbol of status.

Unfortunately, over time, gold jewelry loses its original appearance. This happens due to dust accumulation, fingerprints, plaque, and dark spots.
Most of these issues can be resolved at home using readily available products.
I suggest we recall and share some recipes for cleaning gold jewelry.
## Here are the most common ones:
- washing in a soapy solution – despite the simplicity of the process, it often helps restore jewelry to its proper look; heat water to 50 degrees, add any detergent (liquid soap, shower gel, laundry detergent), stir, and soak the jewelry for a couple of hours. Then, gently clean the softened dirt with a soft brush or lint-free cloth; rinse with clean water and dry;
- hydrogen peroxide plus ammonia plus a little detergent – mix, place the gold inside, leave for a maximum of 15 minutes, rinse well, and dry; when using this mixture, do not exceed the soaking time, otherwise, you may damage the top layer;
- baking soda – add 2.5 teaspoons of soda to a glass of water, boil the jewelry in this solution for 10-15 minutes, rinse, and dry;
- salt – add 3 tablespoons of salt to a glass of water, place the gold inside, and leave for 8-12 hours;
- sugar – add 2 tablespoons of sugar to a glass of water, heat it, place the gold inside for 12 hours, and wrap it in a blanket or foil, as the solution must remain hot the entire time, i.e., for all 12 hours.

I would like to note that gold needs proper storage. Quite often, it is the failure to follow simple rules that leads to gold jewelry losing its appeal, and cleaning has to be done more often than one would like:
