How to Make Stylish Bracelets for Teens from Old Jeans
Most ideas for upcycling old jeans call for fairly large pieces. Pockets get used too — they're turned into wallets and organizers. But I want to share an idea for using the truly throwaway scraps: belt loops and seamed denim strips that usually end up in the trash. If you've got teens at home, they'll love a denim bracelet. Here are 2 super-simple options that let you show off your design skills.

1. Tie-on bracelet
You'll need: belt loops unpicked from a waistband, a sturdy cord 60 cm long, a large flat button, and beads.
First, thread 2 cords crosswise through the holes of the large button.

String 4 beads onto each end of the cord. The photo shows square wooden pieces, but you can pick any style you like. Sew the belt loops into rings — you'll need 4 of them. Thread them in pairs onto the two cord ends.

Tie this little bracelet around the wrist. It sounds simple, but it really looks great in person, especially if you pick beads and a button in contrasting colors.

2. Stylish wristband
For this piece, start by measuring the wrist — my daughter's is 15 cm. Cut a strip 15 cm long, plus a 4 cm allowance for the clasp.

Fray the edges by hand — use a needle to pull the threads loose along the edges of the future bracelet, right up to the seam.

For decoration, use plastic beads on a thread, or hand-sew on small beads. A guy will like a version with one or two chains layered over the denim base. You'll also need to sew on a clasp — a metal snap button works well.

Voilà! Time to try it on. Our stylish wristband made from scrap materials is ready!

You have to admit, it looks pretty great, especially on tanned skin!
