How to Quickly Make a Bracelet in the Peip Art Technique

Love unusual jewelry? I want to share a simple way to make a simple, original bracelet in the peip art technique from the simplest, most accessible materials, which you're sure to have on hand.

To make a bracelet like this, you'll need:

• an empty cardboard tube from painter's tape or packing tape;
• paper napkins;
• acrylic paint in your preferred or favorite shade;
• PVA glue;
• rhinestones, beads, or other decorative elements;
• a hot glue gun.

If you have a slender, delicate wrist, a tape tube might slide around when you wear a bracelet like this. So, to make the piece fit nicely and not look bulky, you can cut 3-5 cm off the tube (depending on your wrist size). After cutting a piece off the tube, gently squeeze the blank to give the cardboard the right shape.

To keep the tube from getting soggy or losing its shape while you're making the piece, cover the cardboard surface of the blank with painter's tape. Then cover the taped surface with PVA glue and cover it with paper napkins.

Cut the napkins into small strips and, with damp fingers, twist them into little cords. If you need paper cords of different thicknesses, split the napkin into layers.

The pattern for the bracelet can be a ready-made one from a book, magazine, or the internet, or one you draw yourself on paper. One thing I've learned from personal experience: the more spaced out the elements are from each other, the more appealing and cleaner the overall design looks.

Cover the surface of the future bracelet with PVA glue and glue on the cords to match the composition you've chosen. After that, leave the blank to dry completely.

Once our blank has completely dried, it's time to paint it. I decided to go for a somewhat austere bracelet in black and gray tones, but you can mix any shades you like.

First, cover the bracelet with the main color (black, in my case). Let the first coat dry, then use the "dry brush" method to work the raised areas with a different shade (silver, in my case).

If you feel the surface isn't painted enough or something's missing, you can cover the bracelet with another coat of paint. Glue on the decorative elements with hot glue (beads, rhinestones, seed beads), and our bracelet is ready!
