How to Make a Christmas Stocking: Original Holiday Decor
Today, many people decorate their homes with a Christmas wreath, traditionally hung on the front door. If you love the Christmas spirit, I suggest complementing your evergreen wreath with original decor by making a DIY Christmas stocking to adorn your mantel, windowsill, shelf, or even your office desk.
## What You Will Need
- A Kinder Surprise egg shell.
- Red and white felt (available at stationery stores in the scrapbooking section).
- A piece of thick cardboard.
- Hot glue gun.
- Decorative elements: beads, buttons, rhinestones, ribbon, etc.
- Marker, scissors, paper.
## Making the Stocking
Cut the Kinder Surprise egg shell along the seam into two parts. One will serve as the bootleg (set it aside), and the other will form the bottom of the boot. Use a marker to trace the approximate connection line and trim the excess with scissors.
Test the fit and adjust both halves.
Join them together and trace with a marker to determine the size and shape of the sole. Cut the piece out of paper, then from thick cardboard. Glue all three parts of the stocking together using hot glue.
## Decorating the Stocking
Apply a piece of red felt to the base using hot glue. Trim the excess. Decorate the bootleg with a thin strip of white felt. Add beads, shiny ribbon, or buttons as you like.
The finished stocking can be filled with artificial pine needles and decorated with miniature ornaments.
