How to Preserve a Piece of Summer on a Candle

Summer is over, but you really don't want to part with the beauty that delighted us on hot, sunny days. To have a "piece of summer" settle in your home, you can decorate a candle that will remind you of summer on cold winter evenings.

For this kind of project it's best to use real flowers that were dried in advance. If you don't have such supplies, you can check with acquaintances whose children made herbariums 🙂.

Start by laying out the floral composition you want to reproduce on the candle on a sheet of paper.

Light the working candle and heat a teaspoon over it (a tablespoon or dessert spoon is less convenient to work with). Hold the stem against the candle and, with smooth, careful movements, use the spoon to press the stem onto the candle. Repeat the same procedure with the remaining stems.

While working, black soot may build up on the spoon. You must remove it with a paper napkin. Otherwise the black soot will transfer to the candle and ruin the work.

To adhere leaves, first warm the surface of the candle slightly with the spoon, and only then seal the leaf into the surface.
