DIY Christmas Ornaments from Household Materials

Store-bought Christmas tree ornaments are in every home. They are certainly incredibly attractive, and when combined skillfully with the rest of your home decor, they evoke wonderful emotions. But simply buying ornaments is boring. You can achieve a unique atmosphere by crafting your own festive baubles.

## Yarn Ornaments

People have been using this method to create yarn balls for a long time. The ornaments turn out interesting, and they can be further decorated. You can make balls of any size.

To create them, you will need:

*a spool of thread (preferably made of natural material to better absorb the adhesive); *a pack of glue;

*a glass;

*round balloons.

Instructions

Prepare the glue. If it is very thick, dilute it to the consistency of sour cream.

Inflate a balloon to the size you want your ornament to be.

Soak pieces of thread no longer than one meter in glue. Wrap them around the balloon to create a web, ensuring the gaps are no larger than one centimeter in diameter. Wait for the glue to dry (twelve to twenty-four hours).

Afterward, remove the balloon from the shell by popping it and pulling it out through the gaps.

Decorate the ornament. You can use glitter, interesting paper cutouts, sequins, or beads. These crafts can be painted with acrylic paint. Watercolor and gouache are not suitable, as they can dampen the ornament and significantly ruin its appearance.

By making Christmas ornaments of different sizes, you can decorate every corner of your apartment: the tree, candlesticks, flowers in vases, windowsills, and more. You can create a composition of balls by placing a bright string of lights on a tray and arranging yarn balls of different diameters but the same color on top. When the lights are turned on, they will sparkle and create an unusual look.

## Bead Ornaments

Bead ornaments will look incredible and unusual on your tree. In this case, we will decorate styrofoam sphere bases.

In addition to the styrofoam base, you will need beads, pins (or sewing needles), and a ribbon. Making them is quite simple: thread one bead onto a pin. Attach the pin to the styrofoam base. Continue doing this until there is no free space left on the base.

Finally, attach a ribbon loop to hang the ornaments. It is better to use beads of the same size so there are no empty spots. You can choose colors in a single shade or mix them up. This depends on your taste and the overall decor of the room you are decorating. Instead of a styrofoam base, you can use store-bought plastic balls. In this version, the beads will be attached using glue instead of pins.

Anyone can buy standard Christmas tree ornaments. But those will be ordinary balls that everyone has. Only by making Christmas ornaments with your own hands can you add a unique touch to your interior. All you need is your desire and simple materials that can be found in any home.
