Eating Well During COVID-19: Archive Food-Safety Notes
This archived post does not offer a way to prevent or treat COVID-19 through particular foods or a diet. Balanced eating and safe food handling matter for general health, but they do not replace current public-health guidance. If you have a chronic condition, are pregnant, have food allergies, or have confirmed infection, discuss food choices with a doctor or another qualified health professional.

Everyday food choices
For everyday meals, a varied diet can include vegetables and fruit, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and, where suitable for you, foods from animal sources. No individual food, vitamin supplement, herbal tea, or homemade mixture prevents or treats COVID-19.
Food safety
Prepare and store food safely: wash hands before cooking and eating, keep raw and cooked foods separate, cook animal-source foods thoroughly, keep food at safe temperatures, and use safe water and raw ingredients.
Limiting foods high in salt, sugar, and saturated fat can be part of an overall eating pattern. Individual needs and restrictions vary, so do not use this archived post as personal medical advice.

I think the idea of a special COVID diet is a myth. It is still sensible not to overeat and to eat a balanced diet, but no diet prevents or treats COVID-19. We are staying at our cottage and have been cooking vegetables and rice in an Afghan kazan; it has felt lighter than food made in a very greasy frying pan. Individual dietary needs differ, so anyone with a health condition should seek advice from a qualified clinician.
