Refashioning a Baby Bodysuit into Pajamas Safely
This archive project turns a baby bodysuit into pajamas. Use only clean, intact, breathable knit fabric that is suitable for children's clothing. The finished pajamas should fit comfortably, with no tight elastic, rough seams, loose fasteners, or loose parts. An adult should do all cutting, sewing, and pressing; keep pins, scissors, needles, and the hot iron out of a child's reach.

How to Lengthen the Pajamas
Measure how much length the sleeves and legs need. Remove the existing cuffs and foot sections, if present. Cut strips of suitable knit fabric twice the required length, and check that their width matches the sleeves and legs.

Fold the pieces lengthwise with right sides together and stitch them.

Turn the pieces right side out, fold them in half, and pin them to the sleeve and leg edges. Stitch them in place and finish the seams neatly.

Before the child wears the pajamas, inspect every seam and secure all thread ends. Remove pins, loose threads, and small parts. The garment should allow easy movement and should not overheat the child; choose layers for the room temperature.

Such a clever idea! Little ones really do grow incredibly fast—I only managed to put some outfits on my younger child a few times before passing them to friends. Some were never even worn. 🙃
