How to Sew a Women's Jersey Beanie Yourself — Pattern Options and Sewing Tutorial

I suggest solving the problem once and for all — by sewing a beanie yourself. It is simple (you can even do it without a sewing machine by sewing the seams by hand), economical (you can use your own out-of-fashion jersey items for sewing), and interesting.

The technique is simple — first, decide on the style. You also need to decide whether you will make a lining.

Here are a few pattern options.

And now, for an example, a small tutorial on sewing a beanie decorated with a lace insert.

Prepare the jersey and lace — you can choose materials in the same color scheme or contrasting ones (it's up to your taste). In addition, you can optionally provide fabric for the lining — for example, fleece.

For a size 56 beanie with a height of 30 cm, cut one 25 cm by 30 cm rectangle and two 19 cm by 30 cm rectangles from the jersey. For the lace insert, cut a 25 cm by 30 cm rectangle.

Baste the central jersey and lace pieces along the perimeter.

Then, attach the side pieces on both sides to get a rectangular piece 30 cm high.

Cut out the rectangular lining piece using the main piece as a template. Sew the main piece and the lining together. Steam the seams.

Fold the beanie blank into a tube as shown in the photo and sew a seam. Make a slight taper at the corners along the edges.

Lay out the pressed tube so that the seam is in the center. Place the pattern on top and trace the contours.

Trim the excess fabric, leaving a seam allowance. Sew along the crown, leaving a small gap in the lining for turning it inside out.

Turn the beanie right side out and sew the remaining gap by hand.
