Prepare the T-shirt
Use a white T-shirt for a clear result, or experiment with a pastel shade. If the fabric has stains, choose dark, saturated colours.
Choose the shirt
Lay the shirt flat and smooth the fabric before twisting it.
Twist and secure
Press a fork into the centre and twist the fabric into a tight bundle. Place the rubber bands evenly to divide the bundle into similar sections.
Make the spiral
Keep the sections balanced so the final pattern spreads evenly across the shirt.
Apply the colour
Soak the secured shirt in cold water. Carefully apply a different dye to each section with a syringe or squeeze bottle.

Work slowly so the colours stay in their intended areas.
Dry and finish
