Pumpkin Pincushion – Sewing a Fall Accessory

In my opinion, this is the most atmospheric helper for any sewing project 😉 And come fall, as they say, you just have to make such heartwarming little things—shaped like “seasonal” pumpkins 😍

Size matters here too: some will like truly miniature pincushions, while others prefer a really hefty pumpkin—at least the size of your hand )) Personally, I love these little “babies” 👍 I’ve had my eye on this tutorial for a long time, and I’m thrilled to share it.

The pattern is very simple; you can even just draw it by hand. The main thing is that all 6 “petals” are identical.

Cut out and stitch together all the key pieces.

Sew the pumpkin 3 petals at a time to get halves like this.

After sewing, the stem can be turned right side out immediately and filled with stuffing (polyester fiberfill, hollowfiber).

Now insert the stem between the two parts of the pumpkin as shown in the picture. Stitch all the way around, leaving an opening at the bottom for stuffing.

After turning it right side out, you get an empty shell like this.

Stuff the pumpkin with filler and sew the bottom opening closed.

Now you need to give the pincushion more structure and define the characteristic pumpkin segments )) To do this, take a thick thread (you can use several strands of embroidery floss) and insert the needle through the center—we’ll pull the thread around each pumpkin segment right down the center.
