How to Make a Unique Felt Backpack Purse

A woman can never have too many bags or clothes. Even so, whenever you're getting ready for work, a walk, or a shopping trip, you find you have nothing to wear—and none of your bags match what you do have. For those who love original and unique accessories, here is a detailed photo tutorial on making an unusual felt backpack purse.

To sew this bag, you will need:
• thick felt;
• strap loop;
• zipper;
• sewing supplies;
• webbing;
• embellishments.
The pattern for this backpack purse is provided already laid out, so you only need to trace the image from your monitor and scale it to your desired size.
Transfer the finished template onto the felt and cut it out along the outline.

Cutting an extra decorative piece is optional. In this case, I decided to make a personalized backpack featuring the first initial of a name. To do this, I cut a small strip of felt and attached the letter to it.

On the right side of the bag piece, mark the placement of the decoration and sew it to the base.

On the wrong side, pin the zipper all the way around the circumference of the bag piece using sewing pins. Fold under the loose ends at the edge.

On the same wrong side, pin the single piece that will serve as the pocket inside the bag.

Sew the zipper in place. With a separate line of stitching, sew down the bottom of the pocket.

To keep the free ends of the zipper tape from catching in the zipper pull, neatly hand-stitch the edges of the zipper to the felt on the wrong side using a blind stitch.

On the right side (on the back piece), mark where the strap will be attached and sew it to the bag.
