To make the plastron, prepare:

25 mm satin ribbon – 5.2 meters;

thread;

pins;

a ruler;

a tape measure;

sharp scissors;

tailor's chalk;

7 mm elastic – 45 cm;

for the clasp – bra hardware (a hook + 7 mm strap slider);

a printed A4 template.

Cut the satin ribbon into pieces (in cm): 48-1; 28-2; 32-2; 36-2; 40-2; 44-2; 52-2.

52-2.

Fold each ribbon in half and press.

Pin the 14 cm ribbon (folded) to the 24 cm vertical ribbon and edgestitch.

Pin another identical ribbon to the opposite side of the vertical strip and stitch a presser-foot width away.

The raw edges of the side ribbons lie on the vertical ribbon!

Fold both satin ribbons right sides together and stitch the free ends diagonally.

Carefully press the seam allowances open and pin them over the stitched ribbon edges.

Pin one 16 cm ribbon to the vertical strip above the first side ribbons and edgestitch.

Pin and sew the remaining satin ribbons (working in ascending order).

Pin the last 26 cm ribbons to the center strip, wrapping them around its upper ends.

Topstitch the plastron vertically along the right side. Stitch precisely down the center line!

Sew the elastic along the center line on the wrong side of the piece.

Make a loop at one end of the elastic. Secure the slider and hook to the opposite end.
