3D Foamiran Decoupage: Make an Original Vase

An unusual vase with a 3D design can beautifully complement your interior and decorate a holiday table. It will cost next to nothing because we use a glass coffee jar to make it.

What You'll Need

1. A tall glass jar with a plastic lid.
2. Plain multilayer paper napkins.
3. A sheet of foamiran with a 3D design.
4. PVA glue.
5. Waterproof construction adhesive.
6. Decorative spray enamel or paint.
7. Brushes, a syringe.

How to Decoupage a Jar

Remove the lid and apply waterproof construction adhesive around its perimeter. Screw it back on and wait until it dries completely. Then use a knife to cut a hole in the center that matches the diameter of the jar's neck. Sand it smooth with sandpaper.

Step 4

Hide the groove beneath the lid. To do this, fill a needleless syringe with construction adhesive and carefully fill the empty space.

Step 5

Once it is dry, move on to the decoupage itself.

Coat the sides of the jar with PVA glue and layer the napkins on top. Carefully smooth the surface.

Step 6

Degrease the bottom and lid, then coat the entire jar with spray enamel (paint).

Step 7

Cut the future decoration from the foamiran sheet. To hide the seam, use a little trick: separate the edge of the sheet from the backing and trim it carefully, leaving a loose foil edge. Glue the sheet to the jar with construction adhesive, overlapping the edges.

If you like, decorate the neck and bottom with decorative elements, or add ribbon, beads, or rhinestones.
