Universal Cardigan Pattern: Simple DIY Sewing and Knitting Guide

I am simply obsessed with cardigans and have about 30 of them in my wardrobe in various styles—or rather, about 20 different ones and 10 made from the same pattern but using different methods.

To give you an idea of what I mean, I'll add photos of a few (made from different materials). They don't look alike on the outside because the construction method is different (chunky cable knit, simple ribbing, sewn from jersey, etc.).

This style goes by many names: bolero, cocoon, cardigan, shrug, etc.

If you like this style too, I've attached the pattern. It is very simple: just a regular rectangular (or square) piece of fabric with the corners folded toward the center. How you sew or knit it is up to you. You can use knitting needles or a crochet hook. You can use stockinette, cables, add sleeves or leave them off. In short, the sky's the limit for your imagination.

Я просто «болею» кардиганами и у меня в гардеробе около 30 штук разных фасонов, вернее, разных – около 20 и 10 сделанных по одной выкройке, но, разными способами.

Чтобы вы понимали, о чем идет речь. Добавлю фото нескольких (из разных материалов). Внешне они не похожи между собой, ведь способ изготовления разный (крупная вязка косичкой, простая вязка резинкой, сшито из трикотажа и т.д).

Такую модель называют по-разному, болеро, кокон, кардиган, шраг и т.д.

Если такой фасон вам тоже нравится, то прилагаю выкройку. Она очень простая, обыкновенное прямоугольное (или квадратное) полотно, а углы – загнутые к цетру. А как сшить или связать зависит от вас. Хотите - спицами, хотите – крючком. Можно гладью, косами, с рукавами и без. В общем, полет фантазии не ограничен.

I remember a long time ago they sold sets of underwear called "weeklies". There were 7 of them. And you have a "monthly" set of cardigans! 😕 You can change them every day! I didn't understand, are the 10 pieces absolutely identical, from one pattern, but made using different methods? Like, did you do the buttonholes by hand on one, and by machine on another? But why do you need TEN identical cardigans?

Indeed, it's an easy and clear pattern! I liked the last cardigan - it's so cozy! I need to try sewing it. Do you think it would work with thick jersey knit?

It will work. The main thing is to finish the edges well. And regarding long-term projects, make it a rule to knit or sew for 30-40 minutes while watching a movie. You won't even notice how even the most complex projects will be finished in a week or two.
